Connection without Frontier- New Artistic Dimensions with IoT & 3D Printing
This symposium includes 3 sessions: Arts and Design in an IoT Age, Digital-making in Open Community, and Open Session about General Problems in Technological Arts and Design
1. Arts and Design in an IoT Age
Since the new development of interactive technique and digital resources, the Age of Internet of Things (IoT) that interconnects objects has come. In industry, it is viewed as the next big thing. Any related branch, such as wearable devices, as well as the development of smart space and smart life, is under construction. New dimension exists among users, data, and functions when enhanced objectconnections among objectsis established. Under this development, few meaningful questions are raised as follows. Is there any probability or new breakthrough in arts and design of IoT? What is the value? What are the influences on experiences of participants and users? How to evaluate these new experiences? Are there new challenges on the cooperation of aesthetics and inter-discipline, or other aspects, such as exhibiting in arts museum, and human-based cares?
2. Digital-Making in Open Community
3D printing, integrating digital design and physical output, is a kernel of new technique progress. In addition, with global-linked sharing of open community, it creates promising opportunity and probability for arts and designs on manufacturing products. A key aspect of this symposium focuses on the transition of creation, theory, education, culture, and aesthetics in arts and design may end a new change. Meanwhile, 3D printing is regarded as the moment for industrial revolution in the future, yet its maximal innovative benefits can only be achieved by an open, freely interchangeable sharing of social network. On the other hand, possible impacts on and opportunities for the design, production, sharing, learning, and spreading with respect to the development of Fablab and Makerspace will be discussed thoroughly in the symposium.
3. Open Session about General Problems in Technological Arts and Design
As The First International Symposium on Art & Technology held by Taiwan Art & Technology Association, we welcome you to raise any related question, especially discussions on previous sessions.
